Spaces That Perform By Design

Every project tells a story of vision turned into reality.

Crux Design Studio is a design led consultancy creating intelligent, high performing environments that deliver measurable business value. We integrate strategy, architecture, interiors, technology, and engineering from the outset, shaping clarity early so complexity, cost, and risk are reduced. The result is work that is visually distinctive, operationally robust, and commercially effective, giving our clients confidence, pride, and lasting return on investment.

Commercial

We design commercial workplaces that perform.
Crux aligns business strategy, spatial planning, and technical delivery to create environments that support productivity, collaboration, and long-term value. Our approach reduces risk, accelerates decision-making, and ensures quality is carried through from concept to completion.

JLR Engineering Facility

JLR appointed Crux to help shape its new North American engineering hub in Portland, Oregon, its first major commission for the brand in the region. Initially engaged as Global Guidelines Ambassador, Crux’s role quickly expanded to include concept design, client-side coordination, and design sign-off.

Nomura

Crux was appointed to design a discreet, high-performance suite for one of Nomura’s top-performing internal teams. Developed in close collaboration with the bank’s internal architect and property team, the project called for a refined, detail-driven approach aligned with Nomura’s understated corporate elegance.

LABORATORY & ENGINEERING

Firmenich

Crux was appointed to explore the transformation of a former warehouse into a high-spec workplace and laboratory facility for Firmenich in France. The brief required integrating advanced lab environments with client-facing spaces and collaborative work areas, while embracing a design language inspired by the local landscape. The concept fused innovation and nature, blending high-performance labs with workplace amenities and hospitality spaces. Inspired by the nearby rose meadows, the interiors featured subtle biophilic cues and organic textures to create an uplifting, sensory-rich environment. Crux’s role spanned feasibility, concept design, and structural coordination

Laboratories & Engineering

We design technical environments that perform under pressure.
Crux creates laboratories and engineering spaces where spatial planning, safety, and technical systems work together seamlessly. By defining performance requirements early and coordinating design and engineering as one process, we reduce risk, support operational efficiency, and ensure environments are buildable, adaptable, and reliable over time.

JLR Engineering Workshop

Crux Design Studio was appointed to design JLR’s new car workshop in Bangalore, following several successful workplace and laboratory projects for the client. This dedicated 9,500 sq ft facility was strategically located to enable proper vehicle access via a new ramp, resolving earlier logistical challenges. Crux led the concept design, stakeholder coordination, and technical planning to ensure a fit-for-purpose, high-performance automotive testing and servicing space.

JLR Advanced Product Engineering Facility

Following the successful completion of JLR’s 4th Floor workplace in Bangalore, Crux Design Studio was appointed to lead the design of a new specialist laboratory suite on a lower level of the same building. The scope included six high-performance labs with unique technical and environmental requirements. Crux was responsible for delivering a Stage 3+ design, closely coordinating with JLR’s lab stakeholders and local delivery partners to ensure rapid, responsive, and technically robust results. Earmarked initially as a car workshop, the space was reassigned for a new and rapidly expanding lab function once it became clear that vehicle access constraints would limit its feasibility for workshop use. With JLR’s Bangalore engineering team scaling faster than anticipated, the brief changed in real time. On an accelerated timeline, Crux was tasked with adapting to the evolving requirements of newly formed teams and translating complex engineering needs into spatial and environmental solutions.

Intellian

Crux Design Studio was appointed to design Intellian’s new UK headquarters—a hybrid workplace and technical lab - within a deep-plan building that offered minimal access to natural light. The project became a case study in applying research-led design to enhance wellbeing and performance in challenging architectural conditions. Intellian selected a space with significant daylight limitations. Crux responded with a design grounded in academic principles of daylight simulation and spatial sequencing, building on expertise developed in collaboration with MIT specialists.

Retail, Training Academies & Experience Centres

We create experiences that connect brand and space.
Crux designs retail and experience environments that tell a clear story, guide behaviour, and deliver measurable impact. From flagship spaces to innovation and brand centres, we balance creativity with technical precision to ensure concepts are buildable, scalable, and commercially effective.

Crux was appointed to design a new Experience Centre for a private client, conceived not as a place to tell a story, but as a space where that story could be felt, understood, and experienced. The ambition was to translate complex innovation, research, and future facing technology into an intuitive, immersive, and human journey. The resulting environment blends architecture, digital content, and behavioural insight into a single, cohesive experience that invites exploration rather than explanation. The client sought an environment that could communicate advanced technology and long-term ambition without relying on traditional showroom tactics. The challenge was to make complexity accessible and meaningful to a broad audience while supporting depth, credibility, and emotional resonance.

GLOBAL GUIDELINES
JLR - Training Academies

Crux was appointed to design a new Technical Training Academy to support JLR’s evolving global training requirements. The academy was conceived as a multi audience environment, supporting internal technical teams, external partners, and suppliers, while enabling the rollout of innovative technologies and standardising knowledge across regions.

Guidelines & Playbooks

We help organisations scale with clarity and control.
Crux develops global workplace guidelines and playbooks that turn design intelligence into a repeatable system. By defining standards, rules, and governance upfront, we enable faster delivery, consistent quality, and greater cost certainty across portfolios.

Crux was appointed to create the first Global Retail and Brand Design Guidelines for Catherine Deane, supporting the brand’s international expansion while protecting its deeply emotional, craft led identity. The guidelines were developed to enable faster store openings, reduce risk, and ensure every boutique delivered a consistent, elevated experience regardless of location or delivery partner.

Workplace Strategy & Change Management

We align people, space, and decisions before design begins.
Crux provides workplace strategy and change management that creates clarity early and supports confident delivery. By aligning leadership, defining performance priorities, and guiding decision making, we reduce resistance, accelerate progress, and ensure design solutions are supported through delivery and beyond.

Jaguar Land Rover - 5th Floor

Crux was appointed to lead the design of a major expansion project for Jaguar Land Rover in Bangalore, delivering a large-scale environment combining workplace, specialist technical space, and shared amenities within a single floorplate. Design leadership and programme coordination were led from the United Kingdom, working closely with JLR stakeholders and locally appointed delivery partners in India. This appointment followed earlier successful collaborations with JLR and reflected growing trust in Crux’s ability to manage complexity, scale, and technical delivery within a fast-moving engineering environment.
