Crux was appointed to lead the design of a major expansion project for Jaguar Land Rover in Bangalore, delivering a large-scale environment combining workplace, specialist technical space, and shared amenities within a single floorplate. Design leadership and programme coordination were led from the United Kingdom, working closely with JLR stakeholders and locally appointed delivery partners in India.

This appointment followed earlier successful collaborations with JLR and reflected growing trust in Crux’s ability to manage complexity, scale, and technical delivery within a fast-moving engineering environment.

Jaguar Land Rover required a new environment capable of supporting a rapidly growing workforce alongside increasingly complex operational need. The brief extended beyond desk space to include specialist environments and a high-capacity catering facility, all within a single, cohesive project.

The scale and ambition of the project demanded clarity early. Decisions needed to balance performance, flexibility, long term operational cost, and delivery risk, particularly within an international context.

Crux’s appointment reflected the client’s confidence in the studio’s ability to navigate these challenges and deliver a resilient, future ready environment.

“A globally consistent workplace designed through clear guidelines — balancing technical performance, flexibility, and local delivery at scale.”

Key Features

  • UK based design leadership supporting a large scale multi-use environment in India

  • Independent appointment delivering workplace, technical space, and shared amenities

  • Iterative design approach informed by prior experience without reliance on prior knowledge

  • Early integration of maintenance and operational efficiency into material strategy

  • Careful coordination across multiple disciplines and delivery teams

  • Strategic involvement in delivery partner selection to support quality and continuity

Crux approached the project through structured workplace analysis, technical coordination, and stakeholder engagement. Planning strategies and adjacencies were developed to support varied modes of work while protecting operational efficiency and adaptability.

Specialist environments were planned through close engagement with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and constraints without exposing sensitive detail. This ensured spatial and services coordination was resolved early and with confidence.

The catering environment was designed as a core operational asset, prioritising throughput, clarity, and efficiency to support daily use at scale while remaining flexible for future change.

“Workplace strategy translated into a single, coherent floorplate — aligning people, specialist environments, and shared amenities under one global standard.”

This project required coordination across a wide consultant and delivery team. Crux worked alongside technical specialists and a carefully selected delivery partner, maintaining alignment between design intent and detailed execution throughout the process.

Active participation in the delivery partner selection process helped ensure the appointed team could deliver both this project and potential future phases with consistency and quality. Crux acted as a bridge between strategic design and technical delivery, protecting outcomes at scale.

Completed in 2025, the expanded environment delivers a high performing workplace and technical setting that supports both immediate operational needs and long-term growth. The space provides clarity, efficiency, and a strong shared experience for a large engineering community.

The project stands confidently on its own while also demonstrating the value of long-term partnership. It reflects how trust, learning, and structured delivery can combine to support complex expansion without unnecessary risk.

This project demonstrates Crux’s ability to deliver large scale, multi-functional environments as standalone commissions while also supporting long term client programmes. By maintaining UK based design leadership and working closely with local delivery teams, we help clients scale with confidence.

The earlier Crux is involved, the greater the positive impact we can have on planning, governance, and delivery outcomes. Early engagement allows complexity to be managed before it becomes risk.

At Crux, success is measured not only by what is delivered, but by how clearly it supports people, performance, and future growth.
